In this writing activity you will:
1. Research an animal that you choose. (Choose an animal you do NOT know a lot about)
2. Record important information
3. Organize Writing in a way that makes sense
4. Write to inform your audience about a topic
You will need to THINK:
-Is this information important?
-Does this make sense?
-Will the reader understand this?
-Am I really writing to inform OR am I just writing a story?
Be Mindful of Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, and Grammar. Use complete sentences.
Guiding Questions:
-Describe the Animal’s Physical Features
-Describe the Animal’s habitat
-What does your animal eat?
-What are some interesting facts?
Animal Ideas:
Alligator, Crab, Iguana, Jellyfish, Narwhal, Owl, Quail, Sea Horse, Vampire Bat, Okapi, Yak, King Cobra, Manatee, Macaw, Large-Tooth Sawfish

Use the link for Tumblebooks and log in. Search for Clever, Beatrice. Listen and read along with the book. Remember, a summary is a paragraph or 2 that tells the main points of a story. You can use the file below to help you with what you need to include in your summary. Your summary needs to be 2 paragraphs long with at least 6-8 sentences in each paragraph.

EsparkEspark is an app that I recommend using 15 minutes a day for reading. It shows me exactly what standard they are on and emails me when a student is struggling in an area. It is customized to be at their level. No student will have the same path to follow!

TumbleBooks/BookflixFor Fictional Literature, I will be using these two sights. Tumblebooks has chapter books and picture books to read. Bookflix has animated picture books.
